I like to improvise on the piano. Sometimes I record them as I don't know how to write music and I try to learn them so that I can play them again. You could say these are improvised compositions or visa versa. You could say it is Jazz, Cinematic or even Classical. .. This is what other people have said about my compositions/performances: .. "If I write just one tune that makes me feel like the Dreaming I will rest content. Thank you for that beguiling tune. It really could have only come to you in rem mode for sure." .. .. Eska.. (Zero 7, Matthew Herbert) .. -------------------- .. "I find your soothing, serene music truly engaging. Beautiful." .. ..Wendy Flower.. (Wendy & Bonnie) .. -------------------- .. "Mode is amazing! Gets me right where it hurts." .. ..Laura Vane.. (Vipertones, Part Time Heroes, Gnarls Barkley, The Streets) .. -------------------- .. "hauntingly beautiful" .. “celestial 'On Hold' music” .. "put it on and whatever you're doing, it all goes a bit Film Noir." .. ..Lewis Hay.. (Loop) .. -------------------- .. "Beautiful music" .. "Sublime" .. "Lovely to wake up to" .. ..Dom Servini.. (Wah Wah 45s, Colourful Radio) .. -------------------- .. .. .. .. A note about the tracks on my page: Dreaming I wrote this when I was asleep. Mode Inspired by John Coltrane (and his piano player on Foolish Things, McCoy Tyner) and written during eager anticipation of 2009 Big Chill Festival, which was amazing and I think the best yet - especially Emiliana Torrini, who was simply stunning in every way. 'Mode' has been played by Dom Servini on London's Colourful Radio. Arp Described as “celestial 'On Hold' music by Loop and dedicated to the Part Time Heroes family who were the first to hear it. Mohammedan I was messing around with different scales and trying to be dramatic. November I wrote this in November 08. Yep. Falling leaves, change, rustling etc. It's a bit unfinished. Felicity I wrote this for my mum. Quiet This piece wrote itself really. It's supposed to played quietly.

Really like the minimalism in Quiet. If
you are interested there's a interesting article in The Journal of
Music about extreme European minimalism. Talks about Satie a lot in the intro.

'Naima' (John Coltrane) ..

'Arp'

Dedicated to my fellow Part Time Heroes who heard it first (before I'd really written it I suppose).

'Breaking Waves'

I made this vid to showcase my old Hammond organ and Leslie speaker for an ebay auction. Expect big cheese...

'Realise' Part Time Heroes (Featuring Jono McCleery)

My brother, Jono McCleery co-wrote as well as sang this song. This video is from our friends in Japan and features footage of one of our live gigs at Camden's Jazz Cafe.

Live performance of one of my favourite Billie Holiday songs 'God Bless the Child' on an antique Steinway at the City Art Gallery in Southampton.
