Bio
SAM KELLY’S STATION HOUSE has been featuring on the festival circuit for many years. Led from the drumseat by SAM KELLY (included in Blues in Britain magazine’s “Gallery of Greats”), the Band also boasts Paul Jobson (M.D./keys/vocals), Spy Austin (bass/vocals), Tony Qunta (guitar/vocals) and Jerome Marcus (percussion/b.vs). During 2010, the members of SAM KELLY’S STATION HOUSE performed at Bloomsbury Ballroom London, Mostly Jazz Festival Birmingham, Vintage @ Goodwood, New Morning Paris and Electric Picnic Dublin. Confirmed festival appearances for 2011 include Ealing Blues Festival London, Cropredy Festival Oxfordshire, Weyfest Surrey and participating in Black History Month at the Crawley Festival, Sussex. Also in 2010 the members of SAM KELLY’S STATION HOUSE formed the support band to CYMANDE II and enjoyed a very successful tour of Europe and the U.K., celebrating the music of the 1970’s funk band, Cymande . During 2007-2009 the band members performed with the SOUL BRITANNIA ALL STARS featuring MADELINE BELL, HAMISH STUART, LINDA LEWIS AND JIMMY LINDSAY with appearances at the BBC Soul Britannia All Stars Barbican London 2007, The Soul Britannia All Stars Tour 2007 and The Ealing Festival 2008. Soul Britannia All Stars were also featured on BBC 4’s tv series “Soul Britannia” which examined the dynamic impact of black American and Caribbean sounds on British music. The unique sound of SAM KELLY’S STATION HOUSE is a mix of influences including British funk, soul, jazz, calypso and reggae. With three ‘lead’ singers supported by percussionist and internationally acclaimed drummer, the result is an eclectic fusion of music with its roots firmly based in the blues. -
