Track 1 is from Blueye Jack's (see their myspace) first album featuring the Mearing brothers, Paul, Tony and Steve plus Trevor the trumpet (Soul Traders) Track 2 cover of "The Pusher" is from a live radio show hosted by Tim Aves. Owen Barry (Rockin' Armadillos, PurpleMelon) turned up and played that amazing guitar off the cuff. Other band members were Richard Pavitt, Tony Mearing (Texas Thunder), Jasper Scott and Malcom Buckland (Soul Traders, The Untouchables). Sound engineered by Pete Crisp. Track 3 is Blueye Jacks plus superb percussionist Lester Osborne. Track 4 Is the first incarnation of the Richard Dobney Band featuring Adrian Shaw (Stevie King's Blue Cats) and John Culleton plus Ray Bartrip (Bad Town Blues, B2B) on Hammond. Unfortunately Blueye Jacks is currently dormant however I know we will play again some day. People I play live with now:- Hot Hob House Band:- Claire Black (Bass/Vocs), John Edmonds (Guitar/Vocs), Ray Bartrip (Keyboards/Vocs), Andy Lomath (Drums) Trio:- Len Kemp (Double Bass/Vocs), Nick Smith (Drums) - which sometimes, expands to a quartet with the addition of Greg Camburn (Sax/Vocs). I have also played Trio type gigs with Claire on Bass and Paul Booth on Drums, again with expansion to a quartet with John Edmonds on Guitar or Greg on Sax. I also play from time to time with Paul Cook, a true blues man, who's enthusiasm for the blues is boundless. I'd like to play more with Jon Jay (JJ Blues Experience) because not only is he is a great player but most importantly he is a lovely fellow as is Jerry Spangles, another occasional colleague - a right pair of diamonds!
  • Influences

Jimi Hendrix, The Kings Three.................Albert, B.B. and Freddie, Albert Collins, Johhny Guitar Watson, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Steely Dan............. and more lately Chris Cain, Ronnie Earl plus all the jazz greats................the list is endless really!
  • Sounds Like

Here's me singing live with my beloved Hot Hob House Band. The song is written by me and is called "Roll of the Dice", being taken from life's experience (mine unfortunately!). As usual I cock up my guitar solo and as usual John Edmonds is note perfect! Claire sounds so good and she's really into the music, which is nice. She looks great too! Andy, well, he's like a metronome ticking away like a goodun'. Missing from the video due to recovery from illness is one of the finest keyboard players known to man, Ray Bartrip. They're all great musicians and I love 'em................................ ..Roll of The Dice...... .. .. .. .. .. .........and this is a video of me playing a cover, Stormy Monday, with jammers at the Hot Hob - Gary (Drums). Fergie (Bass), Mark (Harp) - for some reason he insisted playing off the floor! Also young James (Guitar) who joined in halfway through the song! It's like juggling ten balls and performing at the same time - great stuff!..... ..Stormy Monday...... .. .. .. .. ..
