Dorset - Without a doubt (I nearly wrote no doubt but then i thought it may cnfuse people into thinking i like recycled ska with a feminist element) .. .. .. .. .. ....Get this video and more at ..MySpace.com.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The First record i bought (with a £5 voucher i got from my Aunty Nita on my tenth birthday) was three feet high and rissing by De La Soul and i got it from a record shop on Weymouth sea front - proper gangstar styleee. Me and My friends in middle school yr7(11-12yr olds) used to terrorize our poor form tutor by bringing our ghetto blasters into school and playing the likes of NWA and ICE T to the dismay of most people who thought FUCK the Police and the cover of THE POWER album were not actually that appropriate for such young minds. However the ghetto was always in my blood having grown up not too far from Compton (acres) myself. I lost interest in hip hop as puberty kicked in and sided more with easy-e than Dr Dre though when easy died of Aids and the world ignored the fact as Freddie Mercury's death took over all Death Aids related publicity for me the hip hop dream was over. BUT ALL WAS NOT LOST and when i started hearing the likes of the Anticon and Def Jux collective undergriound lables with the likes of JEL, ALIAS, ODD NOSDAM, DOSE ONE, BUCK 65, SAGE FRANCIS, MR LIF, MURS, EDAN, DANGER MOUSE,El-P and all the rest i realsied that it was possible people could listen to hip hop again without talking the obligitory shit about guns, bitches, garden tools and bustin a cap in Tu Pacs ass all of which i really couldn't give two short fucks about. My music is mainly taking the oldest school hip hop formula in the book, quirky lyrical content, intensely good samples from soul/funk to classic rock and awsome breakbeats with a seriousness, humour and occaisonal social comment injected symaltaniously into the mix.
