Now we're giving you few semi-serious tips on how to make a milestone album. First of all: get it on, bang a gong, ‘coz you’re dirty, sweet and you’re our Boys. Joking apart, we think glam rock is not dead.
The producer: he must be a true fan, someone who knows and understands your different egos and who manages to convey them in one unit. Also, he must be aware of the kind of audience you have, someone who knows your past social history.
The length of the album: make an EP, no more long and Jurassic 12-15 songs packages. In your case, you would spend less stressful and less turbulent recording sessions; a shorter album would be more likely to be heard played live on stage played in its entirety: we have seen you are making plenty of music, but most of it disappears during the tours or is neglected and that is not right.
Lyrics: you have to realize songs – words + melodies – that everyone can sing and will be able to remember in the years to come. You have to write easy stories on catchy music. It sounds funny we ask for this to a band that is about to celebrate the anniversary of the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award, but we don’t know why, the lyrics factor is generally underrated: it’s hard to tell nice stories on catchy melodies; it’s much easier to write silly songs to sell.
The line – up: the changes of line up were not the solution to band’s problems so far. What this band needs badly in the studio is that their band members communicate with each other.

Hello DD Boys!
On the occasion of the celebrations for the RIO album 30th anniversary and on the recent Antigua pictures featuring all of the original Arcadia members, this is our own view on the album.
It’s hard to us to see it as an innovative set of music, given the overwhelming success of the clips of that age. Maybe the plans of the Management, of the EMI with your agreement were to highlight the image, then the music. It doesn’t reincarnate what sort of music you wanted to play; the debut album to us really was representative of their age. Luckily, the music is still in the hearts of at least three generations of fans, so what…?
We noticed the enough frequent use of RIO when you had to launch a new album, saying for example: “All You Need is Now is the follow up to RIO”, “Red Carpet Massacre is the follow up to RIO”, “Medazzaland is to the 90s what RIO was in the 80s”: RIO was like a sort of lure to induce, to cajole the people out of your loyal fans’ universe to get interested in the new record. We meant your honest intentions, we don’t blame you, but sometimes the term of comparison between RIO and the new record was actually wrong, totally out of place.
We’ve never been to Antigua, but the place deserves to be visited: it’s a “rock place” as much as Zanzibar is for being Freddie Mercury’s birth place. We often dreamt to be on the iconic Eilean yacht, during the shooting of the clip with you and- or with the RIO girl, Rema, as the rest of teenagers did in the 80s: that’s the power of the clips!!!
We don’t think the album would have received the same hot welcome it had in the charts and everywhere today: we heard the new boy bands’ albums and no album sounds so far on the RIO level for quality and style. If you guys were caught during the casting of a Reality Show, RIO would have had one- year popularity.

In the past few days one of our recurring dreams was to sit aside any of the band members and he asks “How does it feel like being a longtime fan?” The answer, that in our dream we never hear, or we never manage to say, is it feels great, we’re walking like on a “happiness lane”.
As of the critics against you, or when fans of other groups slag us off, we just ignore them: we think and practice indifference, which we think is the best weapon. We just walk on our (“happiness”) lane.
