Ryan Seacrest has become such a household name that it’s sometimes hard to remember that he’s actually, really a real person. Don’t you think? So today, since Idol’s over and we know he’s busy back to work on his secret scheme to rule the world, I think we should take a moment to dig into the origin of the machine that is Ryan Seacrest. -
'American Idol' Season Finale Recap: Phillip Phillips Or Jessica Sanchez? Plus JLo, Neil Diamond, Fantasia, Reba and Steven Tyler Perform

And the winner of ‘American Idol’ Season 11 is…Jennifer Holiday. Oops. I’m sorry. That’s not right. It was Phillip Phillips. No surprise. And with that the journey comes to an end. Another ‘Idol’ season in the books and another year in which a white guy with a guitar has stolen the hearts of America (‘s teenage girls). Congrats, Phillip. I’m not what you’d call a fan, but what can you do? You came, you relaxed (and slept! For ten hours!) and you rode your groovy laid back steeze to the confetti shower. The big question, though, is will Phil be another Lee Dewyze or Kris Allen. Wait, is there a difference? But, last night’s finale wasn’t only about crowning an ‘Idol,’ not by a long shot. It was also about filling two hours with mindless clip packages and rolling out some corpses to sing with kids! Fun! -
'American Idol' Recap: The Prelude To the Inevitable

Well, that was … a show that was on television. American Idol’s performances last night were entirely predictable. Yes. Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips went out and did their thing exactly as you thought they would. Jessica sang big ballads with assured grace and histrionics, and Phil did his best Dave Matthews impression. (Although according to J.Lo sounded like nothing else she’s ever heard before…ever) This hyperbole came immediately after Randy offered up two like-minded groups — Mumford and Sons, which was a good comparison, and Fleet Foxes, which was not. Everyone’s favorite gypsy grandma Steven mentioned one as well (Paul Simon).
