When Christopher Nolan decided to make The Dark Knight Rises, he was in kind of a no-win situation. How do you top The Dark Knight? While the TDKR generally received positive acclaim, even its most ardent supporters couldn’t ignore the fact that there were several plot holes so big you could drive a truck through them…which wouldn’t necessarily be a big deal, except for the fact that Nolan repeatedly stated that his Batman movies are rooted in “reality.” Poking fun at these plot holes and just in time for the Blu-ray/DVD release, Nextmovie has selected Bruce Wayne and co. for its newest “honest trailers.” This should go without saying, but there’s major spoilers. -

Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy redefined the possibilities of the comic book/superhero movie, adopting a darker, grittier and more realistic take on the genre than we had ever seen before. The much anticipated conclusion to the trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, has finally hit theaters, and Nolan had some parting words describing the seven-year experience. At this point, it’s likely you already know the basic story for The Dark Knight Rises. Bane is the principal bad guy, Catwoman is somehow involved (although it’s pretty ambiguous at this point if she’s good or bad), and Batman has a brand new flying machine that blows up stuff in amazing and exciting ways. So in the newest spot for one of 2012’s most anticipated movies, they didn’t even bother to put in any dialogue — they just tease us with several shots of new footage. -

When Batman Begins came out in 2005, no one cared that the “tumbler” looked nothing like the classic Batmobile because it was freaking awesome. Seriously, it would take a small army to take that thing down. But what’s the one thing they could do to make it even more badass? Make it fly, of course! Apparently, Christopher Nolan thought the exact same thing when he started filming The Dark Knight Rises.
