Gucci Mane looking to release two albums this year
by Jonah Bayer May 27, 2010 at 10:26 AM
Now that Gucci Mane is out of prison, it looks like he’s trying to make up for lost time. Mane recently gave an interview to Orlando’s 102 Jamz that stated his upcoming album The State Vs. Radric Davis: The Appeal is the second disc in a three-album trilogy that started with The State Vs. Radric Davis, and will end later this year with The State Vs. Radric Davis: The Verdict.
“I been in the studio recording, I’m on like 30 songs,” the rapper explained. “I shot six videos on the day I got out; I got something on my chest that I want to get off.” Mane was also asked about an altercation that occurred when he was shooting his video for “Anti Social” last week.

Eminem to appear on T.I.'s upcoming album
by Jonah Bayer May 26, 2010 at 5:52 PM
We’ve never been to prison, but we’d imagine it isn’t fun. Perhaps that’s why T.I. was so excited that his fellow rapper Eminem, who he’d originally asked to appear on the song “Touchdown,” for 2007’s T.I. vs. T.I.P., stood by him during his jail sentence.
“My management reached out to his management, just in hopes of getting him on a record,” T.I. recently said in an interview with MTV. “Em personally reached out to me, and we been speaking ever since, especially since I went through my situation [going to prison]. He just made it a point to always reassure me of the spot that I hold in this thing that we got called hip-hop. It was incredibly helpful. It was incredibly noble of him, in my eyes, to even take the time out to reach out to me.”

Gorillaz to replace U2 at Glastonbury
by Emily Zemler May 26, 2010 at 3:11 PM
For U2 fans who are disappointed in the band’s recent tour postponement and Glastonbury cancelation, fear not. A band who sounds nothing like U2 will be taking their slot. Gorillaz, who for some reason weren’t already playing the festival, have announced they will be filling in for Bono and crew on June 25 at Glastonbury.
Festival organizer Michael Eavis offered the news on the festival’s website earlier today. “This is going to be Gorilllaz’ only UK festival appearance, and it’ll be a massive audio visual spectacle, which will really ignite the Pyramid on the Friday night, with Muse, then Stevie Wonder to follow. I’m very excited about Gorillaz’ show coming here because they’re so open to guests and collaborations. The alchemy of Friday’s show is going to be astonishing: a perfect, contemporary way to kick off the 40th anniversary celebrations. I am so grateful for the enthusiasm of the media and the whole of the music industry for their willingness and eagerness to support us in what could have been a crisis.”

NOFX frontman's SXSW "incident" revealed as a hoax
by Jonah Bayer May 26, 2010 at 2:12 PM
Remember a few months back at South By Southwest when NOFX’s frontman Fat Mike freaked out even the most strident supporters of his band when he dressed up like a clown and passed out free shots of tequila to the audience before a melancholy performance of disturbing stories peppered by acoustic interludes? Then, at the end of whatever that was, he played a video showing him urinating in the tequila bottle right before he went onstage. Yeah, well, it turns out the whole incident was a hoax.
The frontman finally released another video titled “Cokie the Clown’s statement about piss de resistance performance!” which clearly shows that Mike, uh, does his business in one bottle then switches it with a different one before heading onstage (don’t worry, his manhood is blurred out.)

Owl City to release new album (sort of) in July
by Emily Zemler May 26, 2010 at 12:29 PM
When Adam Young, the man behind Owl City, announced his other band, Sky Sailing, we assumed it was just a side project.
But Young— who recently told MTV about his plans for Owl City’s second disc— is actually using the moniker Sky Sailing to release his old recordings. A collection of Young’s early songs, pre-Owl City, is being released on Universal Republic on July 27. Sky Sailing’s, umm, debut, An Airplane Carried Me To Bed, compiles 11 tracks that Young wrote over two years ago.
