  • Bamboozle Left: Sunday's Highlights

by Trevor Kelley Mar 28, 2010 at 11:20 PM

Hell freezing over. The Smiths reuniting to play “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” on American Idol. Jay Leno ever seeming funny again.

There are a few things that seemed less plausible than what happened this past Sunday at Bamboozle Left in Anaheim. But short of a group of aliens landing in the Angels Stadium parking lot, ditching their spacecrafts, and heading straight for the churro cart, not much could have matched the bizzare nature of yesterday’s line-up.

  • Refused to reunite... maybe!

Can we screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam! Over the weekend, several sources have suggested that the innovative Swedish punk band Refused will be reuniting for a series of European festival performances this summer.

For those who are unaware of the band’s story, it goes something like this: In the early ’90s, the Refused formed as fairly average straight edge hardcore band. Then, practically out of nowhere, they recorded one of the most radical and influential underground albums of all time, 1998’s The Shape Of Punk To Come.

  • Bamboozle Left: Saturday's Highlights

Everything you know about Bamboozle is wrong. Or, at the very least, most of it is.

Really, when you think of this particular festival what comes to mind? A bunch of wholesome teenagers gathered in a dusty parking lot, singing along to a group of similar-sounding emo bands? Probably. But, as the first day of Bamboozle Left in Anaheim proved, you’re totally off.

Not only was the bill on Saturday far more varied, it also wasn’t very wholesome. Case in point: For about 90 percent of the day, the entire place smelled like weed. In fact, it got so bad during Circa Survive’s set that lead singer Anthony Green (a man who, let’s face it, has probably seen a few vaporizers in his day) couldn’t help but tease the crowd.

  • Bamboozle Left Coverage: Reporting All Weekend Long

by Chapin Young Mar 26, 2010 at 3:58 PM

Last year at Bamboozle Left, we spent the entire first day in the beer garden and were passed out by 3:00 pm in the parking lot. We woke up the next day without any shoes or pants on. It was weird.

This year we decided to get our act together. As you may have heard earlier this week we have a Secret Shows booth down in Anaheim and everyone from AFISomething Corporate,  Never Shout Never and Piebald are playing. And this year we’re actually going to watch them.

  • Here comes the sunburns: Warped Tour pre-sale starts today

It ranks up there with some of the greatest moments you can have as a teen. There is your first crush. Then, of course, your first kiss. All of which will be charmed and life-defining, sure.

But let’s face it: None are quite as incredible as seeing one of your best friends get stitches after they decided to go into the pit while Pennywise played “Bro Hymn.” Man, we’re welling up just thinking about it.
