  • Bio

THE Sleazy McGuires are like a breath of fresh air. A bunch of no nonsense lads who don’t wear skintight jeans and play what they want to play. Their music can sweep you from harrowing dark nights on America’s death row to inside the head of an ageing alcoholic who realises his life, and health, is wasting away. For me, the best thing about them is that they don’t actually know how good they are. The world could be their oyster - but in true Sleazy style they’ll probably just be happy with more Guinness. Mike Keegan (Manchester Evening News 2008).................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Tonight, first band The Sleazy Mcguires look like a rather odd collection of gentlemen. A group that looks as though the noise they’re about to make might not be consistent, but rather an awkward rabble of disparate tracks. Luckily these fears are quickly misplaced when the group launch into a melee of raucous brawl inducing rock n’ roll. The songs are well crafted and solid, incredibly solid in fact. Each member of the Mcguires is quietly adept with their instrument, and extremely modest in their playing. However, what they lack in sass, they make up for in an unyielding selection of bluesy, skuzzy rock and roll. Delightfully named tracks such as ‘Cross Gender Blues’ are played with gusto, and met with appreciation from the attentive crowd. While they subscribe to a no nonsense hillbilly bar brawl style of rock, you can hear the range of influences they draw upon that make them a palatable selection for tonight’s mixed audience. You can’t help but feel as though were they a little higher on the bill, they might garner a more raucous response from a currently timid group of spectators. Keep you eyes open for them. They’re really rather good. www.largemanchester.com review for the gig at Deaf institute
