NOISE ABATEMENT NOTICE UPDATE
Dear all,
After much deliberation and discussion Kevin and Karen have decided The Queen Charlotte will no longer operate as a music venue the way it has been, we will run purely unplugged gigs for the time being. It is very sad for all concerned but unfortunately we have no other option, we express our sincere thanks to all of you who have gigged at The Charlotte and wish you all the best in the future.

THE QUEEN CHARLOTTE GOES UNPLUGGED!
Current mood:
dear friends
blessed
Here at the Queen Charlotte we are determined to support the local music scene in any way we can and as im sure you are all aware we are currently being served with a noise abatement notice which has meant we have had to suspend all gigs and bookings, however Kevin and I continue to look for solutions to this problem and will continue to open the venue 7 nights with unplugged music only, the first of these being the 19th april, followed by the 26th april and Freespirit and Cruel Folk performing on the 5th May. If you would like to book an unplugged session please ring Karen on 07974 512 434. -
NOISE ABATEMENT NOTICE UPDATE, WE ARE NOT CLOSED!
Current mood:
determined
Dear friends
as promised here is an update on the current situation at the Queen Charlotte!
Firstly can we point out that WE ARE NOT CLOSED, and there was never any mention of us closing, we are simply suspending gigs to ensure that we do not put our license in jeopardy to allow us the time to explore solutions. Kevin and Karen have a meeting with the authorities on Friday to discuss the situation, it is not helpful to ourselves or anyone else who has advertised on their sites and pages that we are closed, if you have this on your page please amend this immediately, this would be hugely appreciated.
In the meantime Kevin and Karen have decided to allow any bands who wish to, play at the venue "unplugged", if this is something you would be interested in please ring Karen on 07974 512 434.
We appreciate the patience and support the vast majority have shown the Queen Charlotte since Sunday and we continue to work with many of you to find alternative venues for the April/May bookings but please continue to watch for our bulletins and blogs for regular updates.
Any questions/queries please ring Karen on 07974 512 434
Many thanks and kindest regards

IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE QUEEN CHARLOTTE!
Current mood:
dear friends,
determined
Unfortunately The Queen Charlotte has decided to currently suspend all gig bookings in response to a letter recieved from the environmental health department informing us that they will be serving a noise abatement order within the next few days in relation to music noise. Our music licence is still FULLY operational and the venue will continue to open 7 nights a week, this decision to suspend music for the time being is of Kevin and Karen's, we have not been closed by any authority nor has the music licence been revoked nor is it up for review.
We apologise to all bands/promoters/agents/gig goers for cancelling our gigs at short notice but we feel it is in the best interest of all concerned at this time. Our final two gigs will be Tuesday 14th april and thursday 16th gig until further notice, but please do pop in for a drink!!!
Kevin and Karen would like to sincerely thank all of you who have been and we are sure will continue to be an important part of the music scene in Norwich.
If you have any queries in relation to gigs please ring Karen on 07974 512 434

Th QC was always our fave venue..
Why move close to a pub, club etc if you dont want noise, people and beer, expect the worst..fucking idiots...I dont like traffic so i won't move next to a road then moan about it
Well Freespirit are looking forward to our unplugged gig @ The Queen Charlotte.
Many Thanks Graham "Freespirit"
Shame
Are the gigs already announced still going ahead as planned originally with just no more bookings being taken, or are all gigs off now unless they play acoustic? Cause i bought my ticket for Blaze Bayley the other week and was/am really looking forward to it
hi all, thanks again for your words of support! all gigs are cancelled, please watch for updates for alternative venues hosting the gigs or news on refunds! karen
Very sad. Loud Norwich bands (which means anyone with a drummer) are running out of venues to play. Glad you're still going though.
The guy from the green party who put a comment in the paper (not mentioning names) was a bit of plum if you don't mind me saying?
I did not and will never vote for the green party.... bunch of "yoghurt knitters", if the local council is against you what chance have you got :(
What a shame. I enjoyed Djing at the QC.
it's such a shame, but on the plus side the acoustic scene in Norwich is huge.
Stay positive :)
All I can say is that I'm glad you guys aren't going down without a fight. I've played a few gigs in the QC and it's been one of the best venues in Norwich. Hopefully it will continue to be so - I've always felt acoustic gigs are more intimate, anyway.
All the best, folks :-)
