"They have one of the most distinctive sounds I've heard...If you can imagine a crazy mix of the Rolling Stones, Queen, Steely Dan and the Scissor Sisters with Beach Boys-like four part harmonies you are getting slightly close. From the first song they got the attention of the crowd and held them with a set that was incredibly tight, slightly odd, wildly eclectic, refreshing and enjoyable..."
(Keith Clark, Bristol Evening Post)
The Idanos were an eclectic 4-piece rock band that hailed from Lancashire. Their sound was been compared to the likes of Queen, Coldplay, Scissor Sisters, Muse & Steely Dan. They began gigging in October 2005 across the UK to promote their debut EP, 'The Dark Lane EP.
Where does the band name come from? When struggling to think of a name last year, they asked a friend's 3 year old son what he thought the band should be called, to which he responded "I dunno". This hit a chord with the band and soon morphed into The Idanos. It was later discovered that 'idanos' is an ancient Greek word meaning 'comely' or 'beautiful'...
