  • Some hills, a wedding, and a canal...

    Current mood:awake

I have spent the last few days in Hebden Bridge, a astonishingly pulchritudinous town in Yorkshire with old mills (tastefully converted for modern living) and very, very steep hills ~ which is apparently the 4th funkiest place in the world.

I stayed at the White Lion Hotel, said to be the oldest building in Hebden Bridge. It was a nice place to stay, if you are looking for accommodation in the the area it is worthy of consideration.

The reason for my leaving the oasis of urban civilisation that is London was my Uncle Roy's wedding which despite me having a stinking cold was a very enjoyable event. I am pleased to report that hippy weddings are pretty much like ordinary weddings only with added pagans and more funky music and I'm told that it is traditional for the groom to almost fall in the canal in the wee hours of the morning.

I'll end this post by wishing Roy and Maria a long and happy future together.

I have been listening to "The Runaways - Live in Japan" a lot over the last week or so and I 'd just like to tell you all to go out get a copy. This is the original Girl Power group, I mean what can you say about a band that gave us Lita Ford, Joan Jett, and a portion of The Bangles - These girls ROCK and on "Live in Japan" you get them delivering a pure raw brand of rock that is an absolute sonic treat to the ears right from the opening song "Queens of Noise" to the last track "C'mon".
