  • Bio

The Outwoods County Riders are a band with 2 styles: 'ELECTRIC' NORTH MISSISSIPPI HILL COUNTRY MUSIC.. With electric guitar, bass and drums the music is pulled screaming from the raw elements of Mississippi mud. This is hill country music, raw amplified, ramshackle, and nailed on to a brutally primitive beat that is as infectious as swine fever. Its music you can dance to or just sit drink and bang your fist on the table...this dark and dangerous backwoods hoodoo is bought to life on stage, recreating the 'Saturday-night' atmosphere of juke joints and honky tonks in the deep southern United States. COUNTRYFIED MUSIC Acoustic & Electric guitars, bass and some fiddle sounds come together with a simple snare drum and box to create songs inspired by violence, deceit, and revenge.. Songs to make you get up and dance, ..songs to make you cry. Music inspired by artists such as Hank Williams, Flatts & Scruggs, Johnny Cash, The Carter Family and many more. The band is available to play either the electric show or as an acoustic act, or a full live show featuring both styles of music.. For two years "2bad" Jim and Paul 'slim' Williams toured as a two piece, playing festivals around the country and supporting visiting Mississippi blues royalty T-Model Ford and Kenny Brown (R L Burnside & Black Snake Moan) as well as support to UK blues god Tony T S McPhee and the Groundhogs, receiving rave reviews in Blues Matters Magazine along the way. But now with the addition of bass guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandolin the boys concoct a red-blooded rhythm that propels delta blues, bluegrass, old timey and hill-country flavoured songs. "2bad"Jim's trademark red Gibson & 'blonde' Fender Telecaster guitars, delta finger-style and slide riffs give the songs both the authentic roots feel of RL Burnside, and the 70s stylings of Tony "TS" McPhee. The compelling result is a raucous, simple brand of blues that includes fast and furious covers by their hero, RL Burnside, modern blues-country songs from Seasick Steve, and the White Stripes, as well as old time and country artists like Johnny Cash, the Carter Family and Hank Williams. They each have years of professional experience and skill to bring this dark and dangerous backwoods hoodoo to life on stage. recreating the 'Saturday-night' atmosphere of juke joints and honky tonks in deep southern United States. The original delta blues singers were paid to get the party started - and, that's exactly what the OCR are going to do. So if you're a fan of "O Brother Where Art Thou?", Delta Blues, RL Burnside, or "Black Snake Moan", grab your rusty pick-up, put your Stetson on your head, and set off to see the OCR. Inspired by blues and country, inspired by songs of violence, deceit, and revenge, the OCR will give you the devil's music from the deep south. And as everyone knows, everything's hotter down south.
