Dick Gaughan, Julie Fowlis, Alison Krauss, my old drinking partner and squeeze Dolly Parton, Chris Wood, Morrissey, Fairport Convention, Mike Scott and the Waterboys, Luke Kelly, the Stones before 1976 - they were rubbish after that year! Martin Carthy, Show of Hands, Johnny Dickinson, Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny, Planxty, Beverley Knight, Aretha Franklin, Jim Moray, Flight of the Conchords and finally, Steve Winwood and Traffic singing 'John Barleycorn'. Giants - the lot of them.

shane kirk My very best regards, Sir Bob, and a happy birthday to you. What a long and illustrious career it's been! I am considering buying a biography of you at Christmastide, but none of the reviews have mentioned the unfortunate incident involving Phil Beer and the giant haystack. Or was it a large beer and Giant Haystacks? I do remember that The Telegraph was agog at the time! I shall probably just wait for your memoir. Chin chin, and my best to Lady Peel!

10 of 63MoreOur dearest Sir Robert, may we be rejoicing in the celebtation of your birth. May each following year bring you glad tidings and plenty of Sherry. We also hope that our rugged paths will cross at sometime, we beg your honour to join us in a sustenance that this wench may cook for you. I cook a darn fine roast Sir!, you are welcome at our table anytime.
Happy Birthday Sir Robert
Birthday greetings sir!
We know you're worth all the expense, unlike some of those other money grabbing buggers! Ta for adding us Sir Bob!
Long have the days been since we last sent post to each other, but never once have we forgotten the wonderful things that you said of us, when you had seen our moving pictures from the other channel. It is with an excited heart we bring you news of our soon to be released album (can't quite bring myself to call it a Compact Disc). Ring Around The Land, for that is what it is called will unveil itself to the nation on June 15th. Produced by the great Sir David Pegg of that wonderful institution Fairport Convention. I do hope you have a minute to spare to come hear the tunes that are now playing on our page.

As always your respectful servants,
M & C - Red Shoes
Many thanks for your friendship sir!
Hi there !
Ro here, from The Waterfront Project ('met' you via the talkawhile folk forums). I seem to recall that you originally said that Sailor Girl was one of your favourites of our songs (at least, someone said that to me and I think it may have been you!), so I just wanted to let you know that a new recording of Sailor Girl has just been posted on our myspace. Do go and have a listen and I hope you enjoy it !
All the best.
Your not the new Doctor? Its a travesty! lol!
Dear Sir Robert - Reporting in to say that the cylinder recording is proceeding as planned. With much help from the Sir Peggy and his trusty fiddler Mr Leslie, we shall be embarking on a sojourn around this Sceptered Isle very soon. Acetate's should be widely available when the winter snows have cleared. We all raise a glass to you sir, your very best of health - your honourable servants, Red Shoes
Fancy meeting you on here...
Thanks for dropping by on the forum!
Cheers
Alex
