Bio
Scary Uncle .. .. The band was formed in 2001, since then Scary Uncle has played many venues across West Yorkshire including Unity Day—Hyde Park, Bradford Festival 2005, The Big Gig Bradford 2006 to name but a few. We are currently working towards playing Glastonbury 2008. .. .. Our music style has been compared to and inspired by that of Radio Head, REM, The Beatles, Deus, Lemon Heads and Muse plus many more…. .. .. Our Demo—”Pretty Pointless Songs” is now available on our website and here on myspace. (Our thanks to Lloyd Deglar for his musical genius contributions to our DEMO as he is no longer with the band. He is suning himself in beautiful France!!). We are looking to record our second DEMO with the help of some kind generous folks who would like to invest in us - cause we are skint!! .. .. We write and perform all our own material and occasionally do the odd cover. .. .. What a year it has been so far for Scary Uncle . . . . . .. .. It started with a Battle of the Bands (BOTB) heat in January at The Head Pub in Bradford (Great Horton Road). They made it through to the next heat. Then mid-January saw a tremendous gig at Delius Pub Bradford (Claremont). Thank you to all of you who turned up to support the night. .. .. Come February we had organised to do the very first "Bradford Unlit" thanks to the help of Jont (www.myspace.com/onelongsong ) and Paul Tunicliffe (www.myspace.com/squaredog1) The Unlit Gig was little piece of history being made right here in Bradford!! If you want to do an unlit gig just contact Jont on myspace. The rest of February was taken up with various gigs round West Yorkshire (Primrose, Fox and Next, Duck and Drake) along with the first taste of Scary Uncle on the radio. The band were given a one-hour slot and asked to play 4 of their songs live and acoustic. Thank You Ramair Radio (www.ramair.co.uk). .. .. March and April saw even more progress for the band as they won their way through to the FINAL of BOTB, after beating Hoover Dams!! The final took place on the 27th April @ The Gasworks Bar Bradford. Unfortunately Scary Uncle didn't win but it was a close competition between the 3 bands. Our DVD of the night will be on myspace soon. We also had the pleasure of playing at some new venues and attracting new fans. Thanks to Lloyds Bar and Revolution Bar for contributing to the Live Music Scene in Bradford. .. .. May and June sees the banding racking up more gigs around West Yorkshire, whilst trying to get a new band demo recorded. We are just waiting on some funding to help us out! The band is ready to take the leap out of the safety net of West Yorkshire and venture further a field. We have dates to confirm in Belfast, Middlesbrough, Manchester and anywhere else in the world that will let us play!! .. .. Sept 2007 see's the departure of Bass player Pete, thanks Pete for all your hard work and stages shows, which were a delight to watch. Ed Kellet is our new bassist and Lloyd has returned to take his place back in the band. They are sounding as good as ever!! .. .. October 2007 we had our first gig with the new four piece line up at the Grey Hound Inn in Bridlington. Fab venue and a day out at the seaside all in all a great come back gig !! .. ..
