Hi everyone I'm Rickie (...the taller one from Rickie and Melvin - Ha!). I present the Breakfast show on the world famous Radio Station KISS 100 with my best friend and partner in crime - Melvin. Check out the show if you get a chance, it's a different way to start your day and if you need waking up with a smile whilst we hold a mega-phone to your head, it's the perfect show for you! Whilst we laugh, joke and send each other up every morning, Charlie brings a females perspective to the show, whilst our producer Adam is the voice of reason. Throw that all into the mix and you've got a breakfast show like no other! Rickie and Melvin on Kiss Breakfast: Every weekday morning 6-9am. Come and join the revolution!
As well as presenting our radio show, I also present for MTV NEWS and MTV BASE. MTV NEWS provides up to the minute music and entertainment news from around the world, to the world, to over 90 Channels across the globe online and on mobiles. You can catch MTV NEWS Bulletins on MTV ONE, MTV 2, MTV BASE, and TMF Mon-Fri on the hour every hour. Plus at weekends, catch 'The News Cube' which is a half hour show rounding up the week's top stories.
I also present for Myspace UK for the urban social network community - THE HOOK UP If you want a one stop-shop for all that's hot in urban uk culture and lifestyle, trust me we cover it. Melvin and I get to bring you celebrity interviews via The Hook Up with artists like Usher, Alicia Keys and John Legend to name a few.
My background has always been in Performing Arts & Technology. I studied at London's now infamous BRIT school. I knew early on in life that I wanted a career in the media industry and have always had a passion for TV presenting and a love for Radio. This led me to pursue a degree in Media Performance and Radio.
I started off working at the then newly established 1Xtra, BBC as a Broadcast Assistant and whilst I was there I used this opportunity to hone my skills by voicing trails for the station. Being at 1Xtra also gave me the chance to work with BBC Radio 1 on a number of shows.
As well as working on Kiss and MTV, in my spare time Melvin and I work on a number of exciting projects. We organise social events which allows us to showcase our talent as Presenters outside of the media machine that we work in during normal working hours - check out our videos at MENT2EXCEL. Now Ment2excel is the company that we founded with a few close friends from University to use as a vehicle to promote all of our talents and has grown into what we like to call a creative collective of people. Currently I present the KISS 100 Breakfast show with my good friend Rickie Haywood-Williams (The one who looks like a cross between Pharrell and Usher, but with a cheaper leather jacket!). I also feature in the BAFTA award winning CBBC show ‘The Slammer’ a show produced by Steve Ryde, who brought you the kids TV programme Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow (which I also featured in!). I have also worked on CBBC shows ‘Basil Brush's Swap Shop’, ‘Smart’, ‘Tiny And Mr Duck’ (I used to dress up in chicken suits - Good Times), and ‘Harry Batt’.
My media roots sprouted when I studied Media and Drama at A-Level which led me to gain a Media Performance and Radio degree at university where I met my crazy comrade Rickie Haywood-Williams. From there I started working as a Freelance Broadcast Assistant for 1Xtra where I produced, voiced features, recorded and organised guest interviews.
As well as working on KISS 100, in my spare time Rickie and I work on numerous projects. We organise social events, which allow us to showcase our talents as presenters and sometimes a bit of acting..!! Have a look at MENT2EXCEL and let us know what you think!!!
