Born in Liverpool, England, Ray grew up in the musically fertile crescent of the North West coast. He plays guitar and bass, and incorporates a wide range of local styles and traditions into his music: rock, soul, punk, folk, jazz, gospel, blues, and even Latin and classical forms. Whatever label is placed on his music, Ray's style and improvisational skill is utterly unique.

Influenced by bands such as David Bowie, Television, Cardiacs, Daft Punk, Goran Bregovic, Spacemen 3, The Smiths and Echo and the Bunnymen, Ray has a strong interest in music that is repetitive, hypnotic, psychedelic, and melancholic. He is constantly exploring this sound, incorporating ideas from his many session experiences and compositions. Ray has worked with a diverse group of Liverpool artists, such as Sunprobe, Never Revolution, Unwinding Hours and Miriam Lamen. His work with these bands, as well as his solo material, unlocks the doors to his pent-up energy pushing the barriers of tradition and the art of sound.

Atavista Baby is Sunprobe’s debut EP. The band all hail from Liverpool, although there’s none of the usual Mersey sounds here.
