Piperswyrd is made up of Ed Wilson, Hazel Hall and Chris Metherell. Three friends who originally met through clog dancing and started playing the Northumbrain pipes together just for fun.
Their unusual sound comes from the unique style in which they play the pipes. Like no other pipe band Piperswyrd play in harmony which they write themselves. Although the main pipes the band play are Northumbrian they actually play very little Northumbrian music prefering to play music not normally performed on pipes at all. This includes an eclectic mix of music, including that from different countries, such as French, Spanish and Scandinavian. Piperswyrd also play of different types of pipes together. At the moment these include Scottish Small Pipes and French Bagpipes.
