  • Bio

Represented by the Joe Strummer foundation for new music (Strummerville), Nimmo and the Gauntletts are an enthusiastic 5-piece from North West London. Mentored by Emmy the Great and touted by the Big Chill Festival they have been building up a strong wave of word-of-mouth support. Structured around the youth-driven songs of Sarah Nimmo, Reva Gauntlett and multi instrumentalist Joshua Faull, the band play an exciting mixture of jazzy folk, dub, punk and acoustic, heavily instrumented by a young saxophonist. Invoking the spirit of early punk and new-wave, while maintaining the heart of modern London indie, it's no wonder the band were picked up at their residency at the infamous Boogaloo so quickly by the Strummerville scouts, and summoned to their offices under London's iconic Westway. It's also no wonder that legendary filmmaker Don Letts has chosen them to be the centrepiece of his new documentary about Strummerville and new music, which premiered to great acclaim in SXSW this year. The festivals they have played this summer are Secret Garden party-main stage (through winning The Music League Competition), Lounge on the farm, and Winterwell boutique festival. 'The feel of early Blur and the quirky songwriting skills of the Kooks. Quoted by all who see them as ones to watch for 2010 watch this space for news of their first release' - Big Chill Records.

Represented by the Joe Strummer foundation for new music, Nimmo and the Gauntletts, from North West London, are Sarah Nimmo, Reva Gauntlett, Joshua Faull and Hannah Rose with the addition of Jack Williams on the drums. Mentored by Emmy the Great and touted by the Big Chill Festival as promising ones to watch for 2011, the band has been said to play an exciting mixture of jazzy folk to dub, heavily instrumented by a young saxophonist. Invoking the spirit of early punk and new-wave, while maintaining the heart of modern London indie, NATG were picked up at their residency at the infamous Boogaloo by the Strummerville scouts, and summoned to their offices under London's iconic Westway.

Since their formation, the band have been chosen by legendary filmmaker Don Letts to feature in his documentary about Strummerville and new music, which premiered to great acclaim in SXSW in 2010. They have also enjoyed bookings in last year's festivals such as the main stage at Secret Garden Party, Lounge on the Farm and Winterwell Boutique Festival. They have been played on BBC Radio 6 as well as on Don Letts' lineup for his radio show, whilst working with Brighton radio stations, where NATG study. In March 2011 the band recorded with the acclaimed Ian Grimble, former of the record label and promotion company 'Communion'. The EP will be released late 2011. Stay tuned
