Bio
Neo Nai Wen (b.1984), born in Sabah, Malaysia. He received his Diploma in Music from SEGi College Subang Jaya, major in composition under tutelage of Mr. Tan Chin Ho and student of Mr. Yii Kah Hoe for music aesthetic and philosophy. Besides, he also had several masterclasses with renowned composers such as Mr Brian Ferneyhough, Miss Liza Lim, Mr. Yuval Shaked, Mr. Manos Tsangaris, Mr. Chong Kee Yong, Mr Jonas Baes and Prof. Shiro Yamamoto. In the year of 2007, he had his first composition recital, and the following year, he was selected as one of the finalist in HSBC contemporary composition competition. In year 2009, he was also one of the finalist of Kuala Lumpur Music Festival Composition Competition. In 2010 Neo is also an active composer who participate in many festival and event in South East Asia Region such as Yogyakarta Contemporary Music Festival and Manila Composers Lab. He received scholarship from Goethe Institute to participate in Darmstadt International Summer Course, by Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt, Germany. Other than that, he worked with world class ensemble, such as Ensemble Mosaik (Germany), and The Rednote Ensemble (United Kingdom). His music was performed in United Kingdom, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippine. -
