Brighton’s Monsters Build Mean Robots make music that is dramatic and dynamic, layered thick with the textures of electronic sounds and guitar loops.
Inspired by instrumental post-rockers Godspeed You Black Emperor! and named after a lyric in A Silver Mt. Zion's “Horses in the Sky,” the band was originally formed as a side project by members of Court of Hidden Faces and Last Days of Lorca. After releasing their self-titled debut on Nice Weather for Airstrikes Records in 2007, Monsters Build Mean Robots expanded from a traditional lineup to include vocalists, a cellist, and a violinist, and started writing music tailored toward their energetic live shows, which had become less reliant on laptop beats. In August of 2011 the band released a sprawling five-song follow-up, titled WeShouldHaveDestroyedOurGeneralsNotTheirEnemies. ~ Jason Lymangrover
