  • Bio

Rising from the dregs of a decaying modern metropolis, MINUTIA has grown into a massive infection rapidly taking hold of a stale music scene. Many in the band's hometown of Philadelphia have rabidly succumbed to the their original brand of "melodic groove metal" and their music continues to spread like a plague, leaving countless victims craving for more in the wake of its destructive path. Originally formed in late 2009 by guitarist Jeff Braytenbah, drummer Tom Cullen, and vocalist Goho, the band later saw the addition of old friend and bassist Bryan Gulla. Shortly following the group's formation, they were forced into a brief hiatus after Goho suffered a series of horrific accidents resulting in both a fractured spine and facial reconstructive surgery. After all the frontman's wounds had miraculously healed, the quartet set about crafting songs devoid of the many pretensions and recycled ideas found in most current heavy music. MINUTIA describes their sound as "stripped down, yet refined…catchy, but also experimental…as simple as it is intelligent." Although the surface of their material suggests a more traditional, balanced set of compositions, one look at its subtleties betrays the band's creative energies focused on technicality and experimentation. While the band claims the mantle of a "Metal" band unapologetically, they are very open about the wide array of influences that they draw from, ranging from Miles Davis, The Beatles and Radiohead to Pantera, Meshuggah, and Cryptopsy. Early in 2011, the band independently released their debut EP "Unveiling." Originally intended as a demo, it is a collection of their earliest material to date. With many new songs in their arsenal, and legions of infected listeners, the members of MINUTIA continue to make an original contribution to the world of Metal and care little for following fashionable trends, instead preferring to win over the respect and loyalty of their fans through the aesthetic of their music, and the uncontrived, raw energy of their live performances.
