Minor Coles BBC Oxford Introducing

Press & reviews

Nightshift Demo of the Month: "Urgently spindly yelping indie with worryingly high blood pressure here from Minor Coles, doubtless caused by all the self-medication they sing about in opening track, ‘Take With Lots Of Alcohol’..this is simple, fresh, pop fun...of all the bands we’ve come across that owe a sizeable debt to Youthmovies, Minor Coles are one of the few we’d actively cross the street to investigate further"

'Who new to see at Truck 13' - Drowned In Sound July 2010

"splitting vocal duties between guitarists Mark Stephenson and Ruben Everett, Minor Coles are favourites of ours among local bands. Their songs are peppered with big emotional choruses and heart-on-sleeve lyrics that have been honed under Oxfordshire's long, beautiful sunsets".

Nightshift

"Their set is peppered with songs that are full of glorious hooks and perfect vocal harmonies. For a band to be so proficient within months of their inception is scary. Given a few more months Minor Coles could just be the most talked about band in Oxford."

Colin Mackinnon Oxfordbands.com

"Minor Coles are a new one on me, but they are making friends and news at a healthy rate, having secured a berth at the Truck festival recently. The honour is well-deserved, the quartet making punchy, melodic, wide-screen indie rock, and possessing two strong lead singers...their compact set was highly impressive...everything seems astonishingly well-engineered: the vocal harmonies are note-perfect, the occasional double lead-guitar passages pulled off with ease, and the only imperfections were non-musical: a non-authoritative set-list and a comical onstage argument about the right position for a capo- of course these human blemishes made us like them all the more.
