  • Bio

I was raised in Liverpool, went to Quarry Bank school (the same buildings as John Lennon skipped classes in), lived in Nova Scotia for a year, studied History at Sussex University, worked as a freelancer musician in Brighton in my 20s then trained as a music teacher. At 30 I got a job as Education Director at the best small live music venue in Manchester (Band on the Wall) where I extended my range to include project management, funk guitar and African Jazz. I worked at LIPA teaching on the Community Arts degree from 2003-05, and I was Music Director for The Lowry's community production of 'Love on the Dole' in 2004.

I listen widely. Honourable mentions must go to Antonio Forcione, Ralph Towner, Marc Ribot, John Zorn, David Torn, Nguyen Lê, ... but the list could go on.

On this site all the music is written and performed by me, except for the melodicas and vocals on Tsunami of Love which were contributed by P-Blot, the Tokyo-based melodica quartet led by Makoto Nomura,

and also 'I Was, I Am and I Will Be', featuring Cuchillo (Helena Price - Sax, Jerome Stokes - Keys/Bvox, Yvonne Shelton - Vox, Stuart Whitehead - e Bass, Gavin wilkes - percussion, Mikey P - drumkit) recorded live at Band on the Wall Manchester in 2001.
