Mark Dolan's Comedian Bio
|
| Bio | Mark Dolan is a comedian, writer and broadcaster.
Mark is best known as the host of the hit Channel 4 comedy show Balls of Steel, the third series of which has just hit TV screens. Mark has just finished shooting four one-hour documentaries about some of the most extraordinary people and creatures on Earth, including the tallest woman, smallest man, hairiest man ...and fattest pet. The series is being broadcast Tuesday nights at 10pm on Channel 4.
In 2006, Mark helped launch More 4 as the host of The Last Word, a late night topical discussion show in which he grilled the great and the good on the day’s big stories.
Mark has also fronted shows for E4, including its launch comedy series Show Me The Funny, and is soon to be seen hosting a spooky new series for Five based around urban legends, controversially entitled “Urban Legends”. He was also the presenter of Channel 4 Radio’s groundbreaking satirical show The Weekly Show.
Mark first came to the public’s attention in 2002 after writing and performing in a Comedy Lab entitled The Richard Taylor Interviews. The series which followed has become a landmark in the history of stunt television.
Mark started as a stand-up comedian in 2000, reaching the final of Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny Competition in his first year of performing. Mark continues to delight audiences across the land with his specky charm, and has a Saturday night residency at Soho’s Amused Moose Comedy Club.
Mark recently devised I’m Here To Help!, an innovative and hilarious live show in which the audience submit their real problems at the start of the show, to be solved by Mark, the rest of the audience, and his mother on the phone. I’m Here To Help! enjoyed a hit run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, at the Gilded Balloon. The show will be headlining at the Glasgow Comedy Festival in 2008.
With a background in radio, Mark has stayed close to the medium in which his career began. Alongside the aforementioned C4 radio show, Mark is a regular presenter on LBC radio and BBC London, as well as being a panelist on a wide variety of Radio 4 comedy shows.
Mark has lent his voice to a range of television and radio programmes, as well as commercials, via www.hobsons-international.com
Mark was born in London, where he lives with his wife and son. He is a poor dancer, and rather wobbly on a bike. | | Website | festmag.co.uk/sections/comedy/348 |
