Influences
I have many many influences in regards to my drumming. 1stly i'd like to mention my teachers over the past 10 years. Namely Jack Gammon, Guy Richman and Donavan Hepburn. Each have brought new flavors to my playing and for that i'm eternally grateful. These guys have always encouraged me to play every style of music and never to 'pigeon box' myself into one category. This has also been influenced by players such as Omar Hakim and Steve Gadd of which both i'm lucky to have met. I would like to single out Don as a big influence on me. The 1st time i saw Don play was during a drum clinic. He had the most amazing musicianship towards the kit which enabled him to play exactly what needed to be played, and never to over play. This was a completely new thing to see at the drum clinic, yet had such an impact on me. From hearing him for the 1st time it became increasingly clear that there is something very special about laying down a groove and making your drumming musical.
