What is Killpop Records?.... .... Killpop is a new independent record label owned and operated by veteran producers/music industry gurus Eli Smith & Frankmusik. .... Killpop's goal is to find, build up and expose undeniably good, exciting talent to the world. Killpop also exists to bridge the massive gap between major labels and typical indie labels through a combination of allowing artists total artistic freedom and having all the right experience/connections. .... Killpop aims to change the landscape of what popular music is today. The name Killpop comes not from the idea that pop music is inherently bad but rather that it just ends up being bad far too often. We aim to "kill" mediocre pop, not by releasing music thats purposely not catchy but rather by releasing great, cutting edge, fiercely original pop/dance/electronic music, bands etc. As we see it most of the best music ever made could be classified as pop (popular) music, whether it be Beatles, Michael Jackson, Sex Pistols, Nirvana or even Joy Division. .... Eli Smith is an established producer, dj, and live musician. As co-founder of So Sweet Records Eli has also spent the last 4 years releasing artists such as crystal castles, ladytron, shinichi osawa, dan deacon & remixes by the likes of hot chip & simian mobile disco. He has been running a Japanese branch of so sweet in Tokyo for the last 3 years as well. .... As an artist Frankmusik has left a big mark on the worldwide music scene but especially in the UK where his debut album "Complete Me" released on Island records landed him in the top 20 on the charts. he also has experience running his own UK based label Apparent Records and continues to produce music with a legendary cast of artists and is currently working on his second solo album. .... We've got tons of amazing releases in the pipeline. basically, the music will speak for itself .... so Stay tuned. .. .. ....
