  • Bio

........ Troubadour boffin... guitar-wielding geek... that science song guy, are all ways of describing Jonny Berliner but he's also a writer and composer of musicals and plays and other things too. As the resident troubadour for the Guardian Science Podcast, Jonny got to sing songs with long sciency words in. He liked doing it so much that he kept singing them and can be found in bars, festivals, conferences, etc, regularly performing them live. The album SCIENCE SONGS, is available to buy on CD at gigs along with all of his other releases. Click here to buy them on itunes... ...... Previous non-sciency releases include... FRIEND FOR ALL SEASONS, his debut album in February 06. Available to buy from itunes and all good online music sites as well as on cd from Rough Trade in Notting Hill....... .. PLEASE DO NOT BEND, a collection of eight songs that range from quiet folk to big band swing. It is also available from itunes. ...... Jonny is also a prolific writer of musicals, of which he has had many performed all over the country. CORPUS, a musical based on Professor Gunther Van Hagen's Bodyworlds exhibition, made head lines at the 2003 Edinburgh fringe festival and received praise from the press and the professor alike. His children's musical THE SCRIBE WHO WOULDN'T SCRIBBLE, co-written with his sister Claire Berliner, was featured in the South Bank's Imagine festival in 2010. .. On the first Wednesday of the month he hosts FOLKADOT @ The Green Note in Camden. As resident musician at this Time Out recommended folk night you can see him close out the evening most months... And if you want some super fun, rocket fuelled, rockin' country blues, Jonny fronts THE FREEWHEELERS. Keep an eye out on the gigs section and come and join the party. ..

He has also been the resident Troubadour for the Guardian Science Podcast, which meant that he got to chat about science in a way that sounds like he knows what he's talking about and then he got to sing songs with long sciency words in. He enjoys long sciency words. These songs are available to buy on CD at gigs along with all of his other releases. Click here to buy them on itunes.

Science Songs

One day he hopes to win a Nobel Prize but recognises that its extremely unlikely. Aside of being a musician Jonny also composes musicals and writes plays and just about anything else that takes his fancy.
