Just me at the moment : )
I play in a guitar trio as well called 'The Picnic Club' with Mr David Breen and Mr Timothy Rowing-Parker!
Influences
When I was about 10, I borrowed A few albums off my best mate's mum She lent me 'Urban Hyms' by The Verve, 'Stanley Road' by Paul Weller and 'Morning Glory' by Oasis. I taped them all and played them to death! My Dad gave me 'Revolver' by The Beatles around that time, and he started getting me into Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and U2. Around 1997-2000 when I started drumming I got into Blink 182 and Greenday in a big way but around sixth form time I discovered The Stone Roses, The La's, The Libertines and Particularly Jeff Buckley. After hearing his 'Grace' album, I started trying to explore artists I had heard lots about but never really got into. Among these were Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Velvet Underground, Van Morrison, The Doors, Love and many more. Over the last year or two I've drifted more towards really stripped down acoustic music by people like Ryan Adams, John Martyn, Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell.. . .
Hey I'm Joe, I'm from the beautiful town of Walsall in the West Midlands, but have temporarily escaped to Cheltenham for a few years :)
I sing songs about my friends, my family, myself, and the bizarre world that we find ourselves in!
I am currently working on my as yet untitled debut album with emerging local producer Tim Rowing Parker. . .it should be done by September but listen out for news about my EP which will be on sale before!
Most of my gigs are the result of a huge ammount of blagging but I can proudly say so far I have gigged with the likes of The Holloways, David Jordan, and the awesome Fyfe Dangerfield (Guillemots frontman!). Somehow this year I have performed at Wychwood Festival alongside artists such as The Divine Comedy and Billy Bragg, Cheltenham Jazz Festival along with the likes of Van Morrison and Mr Scruff and (after 11th July) Two Thousand Trees Festival on a bill which includes Frank Turner, Reuben, Art Brut and a host of new and upcoming local acts such as Jim lockey and Tubelord!
Stay tuned for news about upcoming gigs and the EP and Album Releases!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my site, give me a shout if you want me to send you any of my current (and very rough) demos!!
I usually have them with me at gigs so make sure you get one off me after.
Take care
joe x
