THE ORIGINS is the title of Itaca's first album. The two singer-songwriters twins dive deeper into the explorations of the emotional touch upon life. "On The Origins we started touching upon the theme of existence, life, love and death" says Andrea. "It's easy to take a breath and say, I'm alive. But it's not so easy to say 'I'm really living, I know what's my path to follow and who I'll be'. Through many tracks it's clear the wish to find someone to love. But there's more than just a personal feeling, it's a question that touch all of us: 'do we have the courage to Live?'. But in the end, even when we feel all to be lost, there's always a chance to put your life on the right way". According to Itaca, the title "The Origin" is multifaceted. "It doesn't only mean the origin of our discography, but it's a revisit (revival) of our very first compositions. It's the first attempt to find our style, combining pop influences with orchestral music". Yet as 'The Origins' illustrates, rather than rely on a formula, the sounds of Itaca try to expand the contrast between old and new styles. "We love the sound of a piano and a modern guitar when we write," they say, "and we love merging those instruments with an ancient harp or a great horn. Finally we got to a final work, but we still love to rearrange and explore our songs a bit more". Their long time experimentation shows how strong is their creative ambition. "Editing an album it's really like living a life. It's an emotions distill, it has the same ups and downs, it's a journey into your intimate dimension (intimacy)". "I was up until 4 in the morning one night in Los Angeles while we were making the album asking myself why we wrote or chose each song" says Matteo. "I finally came up that all of these songs are just about feelings. Whether it's 'I' can't believe, I miss you so much' desperation,' or 'The way back home,' which is a final call to innocence and dreaming. And then you have 'Fragments,' which is a man's story of his awakening in his soul, opening his eyes and seeing for what it's worth fighting and live". -------------------------------------- LE ORIGINI è il titolo del primo album degli Itaca, album in cui i due cantautori esplorano il mondo delle emozioni "Sin dalle prime canzoni di quest'album abbiamo cercato di toccare il tema dell'esistenza, dell'amore, della vita e della morte", dice Andrea. "E 'facile prendere un bel respiro e dire 'sono vivo'. Ma non è così facile dire 'sto vivendo davvero, so qual è la mia strada da percorrere'. Attraverso molte tracce è chiaro il desiderio di trovare qualcuno da amare. Ma c'è di più di un sentimento personale, è una questione che ci tocca tutti: 'abbiamo il coraggio di vivere?'. E alla fine, anche quando temiamo che sia tutto perduto, c'è sempre la possibilità di mettere la tua vita sulla giusta strada" Secondo gli Itaca, il titolo "Le Origini" ha diversi significati. "Non significa solo l'origine della nostra discografia, ma è una rivisitazione della nostre prime composizioni, primo tentativo di trovare il nostro stile, che unisce influenze pop con la musica orchestrale" Eppure, come 'Le Origini' mette in evidenza, piuttosto che contare su una formula, i suoni degli Itaca cercano di espandere il contrasto tra antico e nuovo. "Noi amiamo il suono di un pianoforte e una chitarra moderna, quando si scrive," dicono, "e ci piace fondere questi strumenti con un arpa antica o un corno. Infine siamo arrivati a un prodotto finale, anche se tuttora ci piace trovare nuovi arrangiamenti ed esplorare sempre più a fondo le nostre canzoni". La lunga sperimentazione musicale dimostra quanto è forte la loro ambizione creativa. "Fare un album è davvero come vivere una vita. E' un distillato di emozioni, con i suoi alti e bassi, è un viaggio nella nostra dimensione più intima". "Una notte a Los Angeles sono stato sveglio fino alle 4 del mattino chiedendomi perché avessimo scritto o scelto proprio queste canzoni", dice Matteo. "Sono arrivato alla conclusione che tutte queste canzoni parlano di sentimenti diversi. 'The way back home' è un appello finale per l'innocenza e il sogno. E poi c'è 'Fragments', la storia di un uomo e del suo risveglio: aprendo gli occhi capisce ciò per cui vale la pena vivere e lottare".
