ELETRIKA was founded in 1998 by Claudio David (founder and leader of OVERDOSE, one of the pillars of the Brazilian Heavy Metal) with the initial proposal of playing an Industrial sound sung in Portuguese. By the time of the launch of its debut album, the band stood out in the prestigious Festival of the Brazilian Music, sponsored and broadcast by Rede Globo, one of the biggest television networks in the world. Eletrika’s astonishing performance at that festival was crucial to its history. The band was invited to provide two songs as soundtracks to some of Globo’s most popular soap operas. .... After countless tours in promotion to the debut, the band had some line-up changes, which resulted in the band shaping its sound towards a heavier rock approach and then recording the “V.S.F” album and its international version, called “S.O.B”. After many gigs in Brazil and a fifteen-day French tour, EletriKa topped it off its S.O.B CD promotion tour, playing the HellFest (ex-Fury Fest), most famous French Rock/Metal festival, along with Soulfly, Testament, Life Kit, Fear Factory and Slipknot, among others. .... In 2009, EletriKa adds a new turn to its run, marked by the recording of the “Zombie Factory” song. That tune - which was meant to present the band’s new singer, Ney Melo, to the audiences - happened to quickly become an Internet hit, praised by both web radio DJs and their listeners, with high rotation play on several websites and indie radio stations, what has arisen the interest from several labels, whose proposals and record deals have been put into careful appreciation by the band staff. .... Meanwhile, the band has been offering its fans a limited amount of free downloads of Eletrika’s new line-up own version to 2005’s S.O.B album, re-baptized as "V3.1beta", which is expected to be soon released in the U.S and worldwide. There is nothing typical about S.O.B. it is a collection of cross fusion of industrial and metal elements Brazilian style. “Zombie Factory” is the latest track featuring the new vocalist Nay Melo and he has stepped up to the job perfectly, providing excellent power for the heaviness of “Zombie…”. The fast and furious riffing provides the dimension that gives the attitude and originality along with a unique guitar arrangement. EletriKa change direction just before you think you know where the next bar is heading. The build-up and intensity of Zombie Factory and the riff solo provide such diversity to the song arrangement. .... The title track “S.O.B”, which has a more somber intro shows the versatility of EletriKa, providing excellent variation of rhythm change-ups, melodies as well as fitting in those Brazilian grooves. “Hey Mister” follows up with more funky rhythms without compromising heaviness and accompanied with excellent catchy chorus. The dynamics and echo are truly amazing and the powerful vocals of Nay Melo really compliment the style and structure of the song. Street cred is one of the key signatures for EletriKa’s sound mixing just the right attitude with very memorable melodies that just explode with excellent vocal and riffing intensity, “Give it Back” is a good example of this. The versatility of the tempo really keep the listener focused and hooked into the track..... The slipping into different languages between Portuguese and English is so smooth and gives them much credit to dare to stand out amongst the crowd, including some tracks e.g. “Roda o Pe”, sung completely in Portuguese . It is more than just pleasant on the ear you’ll find yourself humming to the lyrics. There are great crossover styles, listen to “I Gotta” , which has all the hallmarks of making EletriKa’s appeal across the board quite attractive to all rock, alternative and metal fans. EletriKa explore their more mellow side in “Keep Me Alive” and the slightly more up tempo “Animal” and “Dizer Nao”..... The extremely addictive “Corra”, where the rhythm and bass work is so infectious it will get you charging up for some real foot stomping and headbanging!! S.O.B is a great accomplishment showing how to experiment whilst keeping the commerciality and credibility for originality. The mixing and mastering process to S.O.B is such a professional quality you would think this band was signed already with a major label.
