Fantasy comes from the Indo-European root bha, from which is derived another long list of words meaning "to shine, to be brought into the light".The implication, of course, is that the subject being brought into the light had existed previously in darkness, in the realm outside that of the king:the part that was not subject to the measurement of the ruler.But to "bring something to light" is not to question its existance, but merely to decide whether or not something should be permitted within the realm of the real, the realm of the ruler (of that which is measurable) , or to leave it outside the realm, in the "outer darkness".
