Clara Barker, a singer/songwriter from the Isle of Man - has been writing songs since 1999 and while debilitating stage fright halted her entrance onto the live music scene until almost 8 years after the first song was written, she has been making up for lost time ever since. With sheer determination to 'get out there and PLAY', Clara played open mic nights and hussled for support slots - even organising her own very successful 'SaturdayJam' night held at various pubs in the Isle of Man. Armed with a steadily increasing family of songs, a mercifully decreasing feeling of impending doom and Jake, her trusty Crafter guitar, Clara played in venues all over the Isle of Man and the UK (Brighton, London, Leicester, Newcastle, Bolton & Liverpool) and supported The Christians, Paul Young's Los Pacaminos, Steve Gibbons, Morton Valence, Jon Gomm, Angelo Palledino & Jeff Lang. Her highly personal lyrics and catchy melodies have won her a steady following on the Island, and an army of loyal fans online. Her debut album - Indigo - available from all usual outlets, was released in March 2010 to considerable acclaim. A review by Banter Magazine praises Clara's "lyrical honesty" which is described as "refreshing in today's musical landscape which, lyrics-wise, is so saturated by faux teenage angst or ambiguity disguised as profundity" Hard Work & Whiskey, a live EP featuring 4 songs from Indigo, 3 previously unheard tracks and some of Clara's inimitable 'chat and bantah' in between was released in Autumn 2011.
