.. Here's a bit of where I've come from and where I am at now....... I was raised in a Christian family - my Dad being one of the Pastors and Worship leaders of the Pentecostal church we attended. At the age of seven I started to learn the piano and started to play in the church band at about the age of 15..... When I was 17 I decided that I wanted to learn the guitar and it's now my main instrument. I started writing songs just before I started to learn the guitar and initially they were much more 'solo' songs whereas now the vast majority of things I write are congregational..... Recently I have been involved with the Worship Academy run by Chris Bowater and Andy Bromley. This was not like any other 'worship training' that I've been involved in - it was much more focused on you as a person than the technical how-to's of leading..... My motivation for writing songs it that I want to help people express their worship to God in a way that fits where they're at. To be on a journey with a group of people and to be able to write songs that come from that journey means that the people can relate to what they are singing and their singing comes form the heart..... Another motivation for writing is the knowledge that people memorise song much more easily than Scripture and Theology - I want to help people remember good theology because when you have a correct understanding of God, that shapes your understanding of life....... I have been married to Candy since Sept 2005 and we have a little boy, Joshua, born December 2007. We live in Cranbrook, England. I'm the main Worship leader at The Vine Church in Cranbrook (www.vinechurch.org.uk). It's a small, family church that has a big vision for the local community and for reaching out across the nations. -
