An experimental folk artist with a decidedly English flavor -- logical as she was based in Brighton, England -- Caroline Weeks had a planned 2008 release for her debut EP, Five Songs, but that had to be put back due to her commitment as a member of Bat for Lashes, who were opening up for a little band called Radiohead.
In 2008, a debut album, Songs for Edna, was also planned. In the meantime, Weeks, who was signed to the Manimal Vinyl label, also kept up appearances with a handful of solo shows in the autumn of that year. Songs for Edna, which set some of poet Edna St. Vincent Millay's sonnets to original music by Weeks, was released by Manimal Vinyl in spring 2009. ~ Chris True
