"There are two kinds of bass players in this world; plonkers and slappers. Which one are you boy?"
I was born and raised in Bolton in played bass and guitar since I was about 16. I managed to stay a true northerner for many years, living (and playing) in Bolton, Manchester and then Liverpool, but in 1994 I finally sold out and moved south to Cambridge.
I've played in a number of bands, but the most recent was the Cambridge blues band Bluesbarn and before that 2-Sheds Jackson (again in Cambridge). Another project with a small piece of cyberspace are The Bogus Asylum Seekers (basically some friends from school days who get together with a random name to play random gigs for random parties in random parts of the country with a variable lineup and minimal rehearsal, but somehow get away with it).
Currently I'm investigating the possibilities for a new musical project to get me out of the house occasionally.
I've added some recordings that I played on, trying to put up stuff you won't find on any of my old band web sites. The tracks were all recorded at rehearsals of my old band Bluesbarn. I just chucked a few mikes/DI cables around and pressed record on a mini-disc player. The quality is not brilliant and there are a few mistakes, but it is live and it is unedited. Besides you can always visit the Bluesbarn myspace page for more polished stuff. The tracks are:
Crossroads - A chance for me to mess around and improvise a lot.
Telephone Song - Very different from the version we originally recorded.
Cut you Loose - Sometimes less is more.
Little Wing - Our take on a classic Hendrix track.
