DIGITAL-iTunes - Click Here >> ...... ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... .............. From Wikipedia: The Batusi was a 1960s style go-go dance invented for the Batman television series. The name is a pun on the then-popular dance the Watusi. The Batusi is performed by making a horizontal V-sign with one's index and middle fingers of both hands, and drawing them across in front of the eyes, one hand at a time, with the eyes roughly between the fingers. This is performed in time with the music, and is improved upon by continuing to dance with the lower half of the body simultaneously. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. BATUSIS: .... What happens when Sylvain Sylvain and Cheetah Chrome, two founding fathers of punk rock, join forces? Before you know it, the world’s most irreverent supergroup suddenly kicks up a serious commotion. In a word: Batusis! .... You might describe Batusis’ explosive, self-titled EP (released by Smog Veil Records) as a garage-glam dance party or a Harley-revving, speaker-melting guitar throwdown. As far as the band’s concerned though, you can just call it rock ’n’ roll. .... The project marks the first-ever collaboration of two longtime friends, both of whom happen to have profoundly influenced the direction of punk rock and its aftermath: Cheetah Chrome, hard-charging guitarist of Cleveland icons Rocket From The Tombs and Dead Boys and celebrated solo rocker, and Sylvain Sylvain, wildly charismatic New York Dolls axeman and adventurous solo artist. .... Sharing guitar duties and taking turns on lead vocals, Cheetah and Sylvain have turned out four tracks full of furious power chords, shout-along choruses and galloping tempos. The songs are loud, rude, frantic and fun, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. .... Cheetah and Sylvain are backed with iron-clad support from bassist Enzo Penizzotto and drummer Thommy Price, the bulletproof rhythm section behind Joan Jett’s band, The Blackhearts, both of whom helped to ensure all the tracks were completed in a few days. .... Batusis features Sylvain’s salacious, piano-spiced workout “What You Lack in Brains,” Cheetah’s ferocious, righteously dark “Bury You Alive,” the barreling instrumental “Big Cat Stomp,” and a cover of “Blues’ Theme,” originally performed by Davie Allan and the Arrows for Roger Corman’s 1966 biker flick The Wild Angels, starring Peter Fonda (whose character, Heavenly Blues, lends the song its main title). .... It was during playback of the latter track that the band found its name. “We kicked around a lot of names,” recalls Cheetah. “My favorite at that point was 'The Uncalled Four.' We were listening back to ‘Blues’ Theme’ and Syl started doing this dance where he drew his fingers across his eyes. I immediately asked him, ‘What is that?'” .... Adds Sylvain, “I said, ‘It’s the dance Batman does!’ The next thing you know, Cheetah gets his laptop out and starts to Google it and then tells me the dance is called 'The Batusi.' We immediately looked at each other and said, 'That’s the fuckin’ name!’” .... The spontaneity of this decision reflects the high-spirited, organic flow of the entire process. .... “We’ve got the name,” Sylvain muses. “Now we just need the shtick.” .... Says Cheetah: “I’ll start ironing my cape!” .. -
