  • Primo Maggio 2010 -this year it rocked!

       Just want to say that after the disappointment of last year I'm happy to say that the organisers of Primo Maggio really got their act together and the show couldn't have gone any better than it did.ADF wish to thank all of you that made it happen especially Romano(PK Dick rules!) and we're so glad we could make a little contribution to sticking it to Berlusconi....
  • ADF/INDIGENOUS RESISTANCE NEW COLLABORATION FOR ATENCO!

    Indigenous  Resistance & Asian Dub Foundation
     ATENCO: This Land Is Not For Sale / Esta Tierra No Estå En Venta

       As  you might know  from earlier blogs when we visited Mexico earlier this year we hooked up with various activists concerned with the situation in Atenco ,a town in Mexico state To recap: Basically Atenco is a classic indigenous land rights struggle ;the govt wants to build an airport and eject the people- the people fight back and win.Govt tries again this time killing,raping and imprisoning wildly .A 14 year old boy is shot and 13 people are imprisoned  being given 100 year sentences in some cases.The media coverage is massively biassed.You can watch an excellent documentary on Atenco entitled "Breaking the Siege"; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpazIBrlL5c&feature=related .
            Our connection with   Indigenous Resistance  goes back to the track "19 Rebellions"  on our "Enemy of the Enemy" album where they provided us with the recorded text featuring information about the Brazillian prison uprisings of 2001.They're a world wide  collective that collects soundbites from the frontline of indigenous peoples' struggles and then soundtracks them for the world.Check the links below for more info on IR.Here's their press release  for our collaboration;

     "For some time, IR had been aware of the siege of Atenco and had been following the news through its direct and underground channels. When
    Asian Dub Foundation contacted us about working on a collaboration around this issue, it made perfect sense to us. Land rights are the center of many indigenous struggles and IR has done tracks & grafitti projects related to this matter.

    IR ha venido siguiendo el caso de Atenco durante algun tiempo y cuando ellos entablaron contacto con nosotros para hacer una colaboración en torno a esta cuestión para nosotros tuvo un gran sentido.

    This new collaboration was created through the internet with musical mixes, speech fragments, and ideas flying back and forward in the digital domain. IR's network of dubversive members working in shadows across the Americas from
    Peru to Colombia, made their contributions by editing, transcribing, translating and recordings. These were relayed via the net to ADF in the UK.

    La colaboración se artículo a través de Internet con mezclas musicales, fragmentos de discurso y con la constante particiación de la red de subversivos que trabajan en las sombras de América desde Peru hasta Colombia, haciendo su contribución mediante la edición, transcripción, traducción y grabaciones, las cuales fueron reenviadas a través de la red para ADF en
    el Reino Unido.
