    'I was born by a river, in a little tent, and just like that river I've been running ever since, It's been a long, long time coming, but a change gonna come.' ...Sam Cooke The nearest river to me was a couple of miles away (River Lea) and no, I wasn't born in a tent either... I was born and grew up in East London, on a council estate called Leyton Grange, with my mum and sister. I moved to rural Essex ten years ago but still visit London regularly, on the look out for new and exciting music venues. Essex has great music venues as well, so it's nice to be between the two. The quote above reminds me of the music I listened to in my childhood and still play today. I grew up listening to all kinds of music. Our record collection (yes, vinyl!) was diverse. From Sam Cooke, The Carpenters, Bob Marley, Fleetwood Mac, Ella Fitzgerald, Country, Motown; you name it, it was there. My passion for singing came from my mum. I would always hear her singing when I was meant to be in bed; instead I sat at the top of the stairs and listened. Music has been with me all my life and songwriting was a natural progression for me. I have written quite a few songs and will be sharing these with you on my Singer Songwriter page. Each year I perform at the Chingford Festival and hope to be playing at several more in 2012. I also enjoy covering classic hits; whether it's Pop, Rock, Blues or Jazz. You'll also find these in the music section. I now have the pleasure of going out and doing what I love. Why don't you pop along and listen; you're very welcome :-) I can't wait for the next gig.
