"One day
I stopped trying to measure and document love
When I found that
It comes at me in a language and depth
My known words and tools could not note
And as I was throwing away the stopwatch I'd been using
Attempting to clock it's pace
After finding that
It's timing was often unpredictable
Often arriving after I'd started questioning it's existence
And though it would leave as it pleased
It would leave me at ease
If I'd accepted it's terms
Once love turned to me and said
"I'm here to help you learn

And when and where I'll go
Those who claim to speak for me
Rarely know"
I laughed at the foolishness
That I'd tasked myself with
Isn't it love's surprise timing that keeps us
Awaiting it
And unknown departures
That keeps us entrance by it?
I learned that day
To just be thankful
And dance with
