Bio:

Singer songwriter Afrika Fuentes grew up listening to soul, gospel and R&B as well as Latin and Spanish music. That fact added to her mixed background (Spanish, African, Portuguese and French) has turned her music into an original blend of different genres like pop, R&B, flamenco, hip-hop or dance music. She combines an incredible vocal expression, natural command of her piano and a charismatic stage presence.

Afrika Fuentes began her studies of music theory, contemporary dance and classic piano at the age of 13 but she would eventually focus on singing and songwriting, covering different genres with her voice like opera, jazz, gospel or pop.

In 2003 Afrika was offered working as a singer songwriter/producer for Beatfreak Recordings writing for acts like Simon&Shaker with whom she co-wrote the dance hits Freshness and Make It.

In 2005 Afrika moved to the UK, where she is currently based, to study music and production at LIPA (Liverpool). Ever since she has been gigging regularly becoming one the regulars in the Liverpool soul/R&B music scene.

In 2007 Robin Gibbs chose her song ‚'Hold On' as part of that year's LIPA Records compilation. She has also worked with Diesler co-writing and performing the song 'Passion' (Rhythm Station, Diesler, Freestyle Records) and has recorded vocals for bands like The Farm.

Recently she has won the BBC New Talent Competition for Songwriters 2008 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/newtalent/music/songwriters/winners.shtml) for her song 'Kiss Me'‚ which was also part of the Music Week Magazine compilation CD in May 2008. As well, her song ‚'Rainbow' has been chosen as best contemporary song by Songlink International.

At the moment Afrika Fuentes is finishing her album as well as building up her songwriting career. .. .. .. ..
